An old house that had been abandoned for many years at the top of a village deep in the mountains was renovated by local residents and those who came from outside, and was reborn as a guesthouse in April 2017.
(From 2021, the guesthouse had been a family-run homestay.)
his is a satoyama guesthouse that connects you with people and the local community, a paradise surrounded by tea farm, and nature with a spectacular view in front of you. We would be very happy if you could make friends with the people you meet here, including local people and other travelers, during your stay.
It is a very special place, but we would like you to imagine it to be somewhere between a farmhouse guesthouse and a backpacker's lodge (traveler's lodge).

Access
The site is located in the mountains far from the town, so it is not accessible by public transportation. If the weather is clear, the sunset is very beautiful, so we recommend that you come by car in daylight to avoid getting lost,
also a few people come by bicycle or afoot.
We have made a video showing how to get there by car, so you will not get lost if you follow the directions.
There is plenty of space to park in our home, and since it is a marginal community, if it is crowded, just park along the terraced rice fields on the road by the house without getting in the way for the car traffic.
Note: We recommend using Google Maps on your smartphone, as you can get lost quite easily with a car navigation system. Once you get to the neighborhood, we have put up a sign so you should be able to get there safely.
Check-in time is set for 3:00 p.m., but if you must check in early, please contact us. Also, when you arrive, you may find that you are out of the building for some reason. In that case, the door is open and you are free to come in and make yourself at home. If you have any questions, please call us.

Please note that the price is set at about half the price of a cab.

About meals
We offer accomodation only, so meals are not included.
We would appreciate it if you could let us know in advance whether you would like to prepare your own meals or share meals, whether you would like to use a nearby restaurant, or whether you would like to have dinner with us.
(You do not need to bring mineral water or bottled tea. We can provide delicious natural food free of charge, and to reduce the amount of trash, we would appreciate it if you did not bring any. If you are a drinker and need a lot of ice, please ask us to make it for you.)
1、If you wish to cook for yourself
You can cook for yourself with the ingredients you bring, and you are free to use any of the seasonings we have. (We have basic ingredients such as sugar, salt, soy sauce, mirin, cooking vinegar, cooking sake, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.)
The nearest supermarket is a store called Astera Vista in Kuroki-cho, and we recommend that you procure and bring your own food there. We also have pesticide-free rice from the terraced rice paddies behind the house, which you are welcome to donate to the owner. If you are lucky, the owner will cook the rice in a rice cooker.
2, If you prefer a nearby restaurant
There are two nearby restaurants: Kutaaden Restaurant, which serves a mix of Japanese and Western home-style cuisine(Lunch only), and Rakuyen Bangohan (a curry shop). Both restaurants are run by a couple of immigrants and are unique and popular for their taste. (both price range is 2000-3000yen, Reservations required).

About the house
As for the quality, it is a simple guesthouse (accommodation for backpackers). Kitchen, toilet, shower and common space are shared with the host family and other guests. (Private rooms also have toilets).
We do our best to keep insects away from the guest house, but please understand that we cannot completely prevent insects from entering the house because it is an old house built nearly 100 years ago and is located in a satoyama (mountainous area).
It is a little cold because the house is located at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. We recommend that you bring an extra piece of clothing that can be woven over your normal clothes, and feel free to wear the hanten (half-clothes) that are also available here.
(We have heating in winter, and we charge about 500 yen per night for the use of the heating.)
